Everyone Has Their Place

"There are 3 types of people: people who make things happen, people who watch others make things happen and those who ask: 'What happened?'"

There are also those that never look up, those that look into the heavens in awe and wonder, and there are those that become astronauts (or cosmonauts, psh).

Earthbound Astronaut When I heard this for the first time, I realized it is a really subjective idea. I mean, there are a lot of leaders, true movers and shakers, which never become astronauts. This is, of course, because the wrold only needs so many people to bounce around in the space station, while the rest of us just watch. So, those movers and shakers that are left on Earth are forced to exercise their influence elsewhere, and in other ways.

Likewise, you might find a brilliant, groundbreaking physicist that would be completely lost in the middle of a political event. There, he might ask, "What's happening?" But, would that make him less brilliant or influential?

Everyone has their place. It's simply a matter of recognizing what yours is and embracing it.

I was just having a similar conversation with someone not too long ago, although it had to do with Christianity. (Sorry to always be injecting Christianity into your blog) There are preachers who are very reserved, there are people who are very over-the-top and there are preachers who are somewhere in the middle. I used to criticize the ones who were over-the-top because I felt like they were so flashy that they couldn't possibly have a true heart for God. Then I spoke with someone who said they would never have come to Christ had it not been for one of these preachers I was so critical of.

That's when I realized that God has his people in different places, called from different lives completely - in order so that he can reach everyone. If all Christians fit my mold, there would probably be a much less universal appeal.

The key to joy in life is to "blossom where you're planted."
